Class Dress Code

What to Wear to Class

Note: Spring and Summer classes are exempt from the dress code! Dancers should attend in comfortable clothing that doesn’t restrict movement. Hair should be pulled back so as to not be distracting. Shoes are not required; however, you are invited to wear your own dance shoes and/or bring clean indoor footwear.

Our dress code is a guideline only! Being well-rested and fed is more important than dressing appropriately. Hair being back and out of faces is super important in every class. Buns or Braids are best for long hair. Ponytails in a pinch! Bangs should be held back with a headband.

Dancers should attend class in a leotard. While shopping, try to avoid outfits with attached skirts/tutus. Leotards can be paired with a variety of things!

For Ballet, we like to wear pink tights with ballet slippers, and perhaps a skirt (ideally no tutus!).

In Jazz class, our leotard with shorts and tights, leggings, or cropped pants is the usual look. Ballet slippers are preferred for younger jazz classes. Junior (Gr3/4/5) and Preteen (Gr6/7/8) should have jazz shoes.

Tap is the same as jazz in terms of clothing. We have a collection of studio tap shoes; from toddler to adult. There is a $10 usage fee if you want to use our shoes for the season (rather than buying your own). This fee is payable in the parent portal in the Online Store.

Acro class requires no loose clothing! Leotards, tanks, shorts, tight leggings, and hair in a low bun or braid are our go-to! We do acro in bare feet. It is especially important that long hair is secured in a bun or braid to avoid injury.

Leotard Colours!

Keep this in mind if you are going shopping for classwear…

Our Toddler, Pre-Kinder, and Kindergarten combo classes will be wearing pink leotards as the base of their costume for our January Recital. Dancers should have their own ballet slippers

Our Primary classes (SK/Gr1, Gr1/Gr2, Gr2, and Gr2/Gr3) should have a navy blue leotard for the January recital

Our Junior and Preteen classes (Gr3/4/5 and Gr 6/7/8) should have a burgundy leotard for the January recital

You can get all you need and more for class at Flair Athletics on the corner of Vickers and Donald St.
